Uncle Sound

Uncle Sound was a project in 1966 that included Jimmy, Dash and the Day sisters.
It was very similar to the group that followed,
The Dawnbreakers. Uncle Sound released three known 45 rpm singles. One was the Warner Brothers production of "I'm Gonna Ask Him," perhaps the very first religious-themed song written by Jimmy. The other two were on the Kapp label: Everywhere I Go/Baby Don't Love Here Anymore (714) and Leave My Girl Alone/You're the Queen (750). The latter single may have been recorded by The Trophies as well.

01. I'm Gonna Ask Him
(music and lyrics by Jimmy Seals, 1966)

Who told the fog to go in from the sea? Who told the moss where to go up on the tree?
Who read my dream? He's the one that I want to see.
And I'm gonna ask him. Yes, I'm gonna ask him. Oh I'm gonna ask him.
To bring me to me.

Who taught the flowers (who taught the flowers) to raise their heads in bloom?
(The evening showers) Or evening showers to cool the afternoon?
Who read my dream? He's the one that I want to see.
And I'm gonna ask him. Yes, I'm gonna ask him. Oh I'm gonna ask him.
To bring me to me.

If I must climb a mountain for him to hear me pray,
This I'll do with pleasure for there's a price to pay.
To pay for such a treasure [if he would ask me stay?]

Who makes the Winters that turn into Spring?
Who brings a century of memory. . . [?]
I'll lift my hands and hope that he understands.
When I'm gonna ask him. Yes, I'm gonna ask him. Oh I'm gonna ask him.
And I'm gonna ask him. Yes, I'm gonna ask him. Oh I'm gonna ask him.

02. BEVERLY HILLS
(music and lyrics by Jimmy Seals, 1966)

And so they go and round about, the sweetest little girl in town.
See her in the colored lights of paradise, this cat that I found.
Each time I see her I get the chills.
So tell me who now now, who now now, who now, who now now, who's Beverly Hills?

So slowly going round about, I've got a thing I'm mad about it's true.
I thought it over carefully and all I can say respectfully, it's true.
Each time I see her I get the chills.
So tell me who now now, who now now, who now, who now now, who's Beverly Hills?

Well I don't care what people say about her. When I think about her I feel this way.
If I could be with her, I would like to give her, now and forever, all my tender love and care.
We've got love to share. (drum break)

I've never seen a smile that's softer. Man she has has got something to offer me.
I never believed in miracles 'til I saw through my spectacles at she.
Each time I see her I get the chills.
So tell me who now now, who now now, who now, who now now, who's Beverly Hills?
Who's Beverly Hills? Beverly Hills is my name. Can you dig it? Who's that girl?
Beverly Hills is my name. Can you dig it? Who's that girl?
Beverly Hills is my name. Can you dig it? Who's that girl?
Beverly Hills is my name. Can you dig it? Who's that girl?
