Jimmy Seals

In 1964-65, as The Champs were winding down, Jimmy Seals released four 45 rpm records under the Challenge label. It was the first time he had been featured as a singer-songwriter. None of the singles charted:

Wish For You, Want For You, Wait For You/Runaway Heart (9153)
Lady Heartbreak/Grounded (9200)
Everybody's Doing the Jerk/Wahoo
She's Not a Bad Girl/The Yesterday of Our Love

LADY HEARTBREAK
(lyrics and music by Jimmy Seals and John Trombatore, 1963)
Released as a solo by Jimmy Seals (4-Star #908)

Lady Heartbreak, Lady Heartbreak, Lady Heartbreak, Whoa!
Momma done told me once, Poppa done told me twice.
Don't you ever go near that girl, "'Cause son she just ain't nice."
Lady Heartbreak, that's what they say. She breaks a new heart every day.
She'll make you cry and make you feel so blue.
She'll say goodbye and break your heart in two.
But I can't help myself, I don't know what to do.
Lady Heartbreak, I love you.

Well I paid no mind to Momma, Poppa I said you're wrong.
And I went right ahead and fell in love. "Well son, you're on your own."
Lady Heartbreak, that's what they say. She breaks a new heart every day.
She'll make you cry and make you feel so blue.
She'll say goodbye and break your heart in two.
But I can't Help myself, I don't know what to do.
Lady Heartbreak, I love you.

GROUNDED
(lyrics and music by Jimmy Seals and Keith MacKendrick, 1963)
Released as a solo by Jimmy Seals (4-Star #909)

Well I'm grounded, I can't go out. Grounded, guess I'll do without.
I got mad and I blew my lid. 'Cause they think I'm still a kid.
I'm grounded. Whoa, whoa. . .

Well I'm grounded, I can't use a car. I'd walk, but it's too far.
I guess I'll go and call my chick. I'll have to tell her that tonight I'm sick.
Whoa, 'cause I'm grounded, whoa. . .

If she knew, she would flip. Me of all people, [I let my way slip?].
I might as well be on the moon. Here I am locked in my room. Whoa, yeah, ah ha.
If she knew, she would flip. Me of all people, [I let my way slip?].
I might as well be on the moon. Here I am locked in my room.
Ah, what am I gonna do? Whoa. . .
